Malt Shovel Brewery

Find yourself craving a Hahn Premium Light, Tooheys New, or a Heineken? A tour of the Malt Shovel Brewery in Camperdown may be exactly what you are looking for, with all of these brands brewed in-house. The brewery is also home to the James Squire brand.

Malt Shovel Brewery hosts various events, allowing you to gain an insight into the brewing process. 'Meet the Brewers' gives you an opportunity to hear a talk from the brewers and learn the secrets of beer. 'Beer Dinners' are held in fine dining restaurants and involves the brewers handpicking a beer to perfectly match your meal.

Schwartz Brewery

The Schwartz Brewery is located in the belly of the historic Macquarie Hotel. Take a tour of the micro brewery and observe the process from grain to glass. Watch as head brewer Samara Fuss guides you through the process and bottles the additive- and preservative-free brew.

Tours are held each Wednesday from 2pm and cost approximately $10.00. This includes a sample of one of the freshly brewed beers. As their slogan says, "Beer is much more than just a mere drink... it's a solace, a mystique, an art, a way of life, almost a religion". Beer is deeply respected at the Macquarie Hotel, with the handcrafted brews being served on tap.

Redoak Boutique Beer Cafe

Redoak is Australia's most awarded boutique brewery and offers a selection of premium beers brewed in-house to enjoy. Combine a beer with a delicious meal at the gourmet restaurant. Order from one of the unique tasting boards, in which four different dishes are matched to a specific beer to maximise flavour. Choose from seafood, meat, vegetarian or cheese.

Take a Redoak Beer Appreciation Class and gain an in-depth knowledge of beer, from its history to its different styles and brewing processes. Indulge in a four course degustation meal as you learn how to match food and beer, and even how to better appreciate beer, by being aware of its style, quality, glassware and environment. Classes are run on the first Saturday of every month and cost $75.00.

The Lord Nelson Brewery

Welcome to Australia's oldest hotel, The Lord Nelson Brewery. Relax in the historic bar and enjoy one of the six 100 per cent natural, award-winning ales brewed on the premises. The brews include Three Sheets, Old Admiral and Nelson's Blood - all brewed in the cellar of the hotel.

Head upstairs to The Brasserie and team your beer with a delicious meal. Feel the history around as you dine in the open-plan restaurant against a wall of exposed convict-quarried sandstone. The Brasserie serves a menu of eclectic, innovative Australian cuisine for lunch and dinner. Stay the night in one of the colonial-era rooms of the hotel and enjoy one of Sydney's most unique hotel rooms.
