Visit Broadway
Bustling Broadway is a cosmopolitan junction of inner city action, transport hubs, excellent shopping and a lively student scene. Running west from the CBD to the University of Sydney, and bordering on bohemian Glebe, Ultimo and Chippendale, Broadway has something for everyone.
Broadway has long been a busy thoroughfare, being one of the first roads built in Syndey, in 1794. The street is still dotted with a number of historic buildings, including the 1890s Embassy Conference Centre, the Agincourt Hotel and the magnificent early 1900s Broadway Shopping Centre.
It is easy to spend a whole day at Broadway Shopping Centre. Explore four floors of departments stores, eateries, a 12 screen cinema complex and more than 100 specialty stores. Broadway itself and its side streets also offer an extensive range of shops. Stroll to neighbouring Haymarket or Glebe to browse eclectic boutiques and fantastic markets.
Broadway also boasts a wide variety of cafes, restaurants and bars. Enjoy a succulent steak at Grillers Steakhouse, tasty tapas at the Abercrombie Hotel, or numerous international cuisines including Italian, Malaysian and Japanese. The famous Agincourt Hotel features a great restaurant, public bar, club and live music. There's also a vibrant selection of student bars and, across the road in Chippendale, superb local pubs.
Explore the beautiful inner city oasis of Victoria Park, which is perfectly nestled between Broadway and the University of Sydney. There are nine hectares of parkland to relax in, as well as paved walkways, a children's playground and heritage sandstone gardener's cottage. Have a picnic by Lake Northam, or visit the Victoria Park Pool complex, which includes a swimming pool, children's wading pool, gym, day nursery, and cafe.
There are so many things to do in Broadway. And with the city, Chinatown, Darling Harbour and Central Train Station so close by, you'll never need to go far to experience the best of Sydney.
